    Hi all,

I have a new Z133 and there is a little lightnint bolt on the system tray near the time/date.

I click that and it is a "vaio update". When I initialize the update, it opens, extracts, and then disappears.

What is this program? aand why won't it update???

    Thanks

it's supposed to download the applicable updates for you automatically. Don't bother -- Vaio Update has never worked. It doesn't work if you use a proxy server, if you're on IPv6, if you're on a 1:1 NAT, if you have set the DPI correctly, if you've changed the default browser to a non-IE based one, or if you one of a couple of the most popular AV programs. Oh, and it's never up-to-date either, so even if you manage to get it to work, it won't find the correct updates -- you may already have newer on your system, in which case it may notify you over and over again that you need an update, but can't install it.
In short, it's a steaming pile of programming that Sony should be ashamed of.
