hello, I was wondering wether somebody owns or knows this computer.
    I want to buy a laptop ,
I liked the big ram memory but I am not so happy with the 128 mb nvidia card

does anybody know if this computer can handle some 3d programs like solidworks?

    I'm wondering something.
You pick a "cheap laptop" and then come around complaining its not powerful enough...
Have a look at the SR maybe?

Its not meant as an offense, but its just curious ...

I think in a way Dell could be a bit more powerful.
Sonys are more beuatiful though and lighter.
    Toshiba may be another idea.
    Have a look at Dell.
I suggest you look at this:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=88767

For Dell, try playing with this:
    http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/notebooks?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn

I suggest you stay off the NVidia graphics card though. Also consider that the current Intel X3100 is very powerful and the new one is supposed to be 70% more powerful.

(There is an issue with weak material in NVidia crads)

    The Studio 15 seems OK.
Ok for office work and it comes with an ATI card which isn't supposed to fail as the NVidia is...
