Whenever I take the ac adapter out and run on the battery, there is some kind of high pitched noise that comes out of the computer, has any one else had this problem and do you know why or how to solve it?

I just bought the same laptop and have not experienced this. How loud is the noise? Pretty noticeable?

I have an FZ-160 and have noticed the same problem. It seems to occur only in power saver mode when on the battery and with the computer idle (from lower left of keyboard). Browsing around this and other sites, it seems that it is an unresolved problem with some kind of power saving parameters (a problem with the core duos, not sony in particular...even mac), perhaps with the processor frequency. I have tried playing around with some of these options in the advanced power settings, but nothing has rectified it. The noise is not loud, but in some circumstances can be annoying. I am trying to decide whether to exchange the computer of keep it as Ive got it set up to my liking and mostly run on the ac adpater.
