Alot of people must have got the vaio z by now. And many of them where going to buy the HDD version and replace the HDD with a SSD.
Does anyone knows how TRIM works in that configuration ? Have anyone done some tests yet?

TRIM is not currently supported on the new Z since it uses RAID 0.
-
Not when you buy the HDD version. I don't know whats the setup in the bios and the hacked version could give some clearance of that. Trim could be possible.
-
yes, I really hope trim will work with the hacked version of bios.. someone must know.
-
trim does work if you buy the hdd version and replace it with a single trim-capable ssd. i did it with my x25 from intel. the latest intel storage driver supports trim through raid hen just one drive is used.
got it a month now and now decrease at all. using it as a primary machine. -
And what countries offer the HDD version? Certainly isn't the U.S.
-
unfortunately thats right. i was lucky cause im from germany.
-
It will work with TRIM, but you'll also be getting a much slow Read/write speed.
Also even without TRIM, the standard Sony SSD system doesn't seem to show slow down.
So other than lower price, I dont see any other benefits. -
Yeah, people are jumping away from the Sony drives but they clearly do garbage collection and seem to mimick what TRIM does.
I was concerned about it at first, but at this point I'm just using the thing. Tests here as well as my own have showed that minutes after deleting large files it has cleaned up the space. -
So garbage collection works like TRIM? even on sony raid SSD? no need to formate drives every 3-4 month?
-
my z was able to provide throughput around 450MBps write, now it only does 250 MBps after 3 weeks....you can restore the speed, but have to backup, break the raid, clean then restore....too much trouble....how did everybody get their speed back?

Do you have the sony ssd?
vaio z - SSD instead of the HDD, will TRIM work?
