    Vista Business 32 SP2
    Latest BIOS
Latest Intel Chipset driver (from Sony site not Intel)
    Mata DVD-RAM UJ862AS

    Symptoms:
    1. Recognizing blank disc- Put blank dvdr disc in drive, right click on drive in Windows and it takes like 90 seconds to pop up context menu.

    2. Copying a disc- read original and make iso works perfectly. Put in blank dvdr, tell it to write and it errors out, have to cancel process. Result is a coaster. Using Roxio Creator and latest ImgBurn (same process on my desktop with these blanks works perfectly).

I checked the ImgBurn log and it was showing a bunch of "power calibration errors" before it aborted. I've read everything from dirty laser/lens to reduce write speed to anything but auto to bad drive. I ran out of blanks, so have to pick up some more to test further before I go and replace the drive.

Cleaning the lens worked. Used a camera "lens pen" brush. Thanks
