I owned a TX5XN/B and the fan was a bit more active in Vista.
You can try tweaking the fan controls in the vaio power management but you've probably already tried that.
There was a BIOS version R0051N3 that i tried that was slightly more bearable. I found this version R0054N3 pretty unbearable.
Other than that i think there is not much you can do as long as you have the correct drivers installed.
This is one of the drawbacks of this laptop.

omg the noise is really annoying but thats strange because the last tx i had the tx92ps, the japanese version of the tx3xp without fingerprint capability had not this problem and it was not noisy at all even if i use youtube hd (and we all know how much flash use cpu ;p ) i also tryed to install different bios and still same noise i tweaked the fan control and the noise is still here,
well i guess i'll sell it soon :( i really enjoyed using this one its really a remarcable notebook now i am thinking to buy the vaio X series ,what do you think about that laptop rachel
by the way i did restore to original via vaio restore center and now everything is fine even the fingerprint control
one last note perhaps it can help some , with original restore (windows xp sp2 or windows vista or windows seven i had the fan always working and big noise but with a hacked version of windows xp , the sweet version i had better autonomy and the didnt noticed that the fan was working without doing big noise like in the other version of windows

May be take a look at this undervolting guide. The change of BIOS seemed to make the most difference.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

What do i think about the Vaio X? I think that the TX you have now has a better CPU.
There is some talk about there being a new T model launched soon may be in a couple of months. It is all just speculation at this point. I think a TT is a nice upgrade to the TX. I own a TT now.

If you haven't done so already you can also turn AERO of and that should help a little.

one last question tell me if it these information are normal
my processor u1400 is working on ~800mhz the battery is a 6600mah
with this battery and this configuration i can use my computer almost 3:30 hour so is it normal? or some thing fishy about the battery?
