hi yeow Z. welcome aboard!
the drivers and applications for Vista x64 - and even the new Z BIOS R3052M3 - all work well on Z5xx (marketed in Japan as model Z90/Z70).
to install drivers and applications from Z690 support page (esupport.sony.com) you need to remove the "wrapper" containing a model checker. Use universal extractor from:
http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
(hint: use e_wise option when extracting).
With regad to the BIOS, you can download the new BIOS R3052M3 from the sony japanese support site:
http://vcl.vaio.sony.co.jp/download/EP0000173550.html
it installs and works without a problem on my Z running "del boca vista" x64.
This BIOS updates the embedded controller to version K1280M3.
cheers,
falang. -
tnx so much sir! let me try this now.

well, after using the universal extarctor, i thought everything will be successful. the only drivers were successful are the chipset, mmcs(card readers) and bluetooth. for the nvidia drivers. it was successfully installed but after rebooting, i didnt see any nvidia properties and the screen went darker. even the wireless was successfully installed but after rebooting, didnt detect anything. if ill just use my xp cd, do i have to add some patch or something?
edited..
network ok now., LAN and wireless. i still have 3 "?" on my device manager, fingerprint and 2 uknown device. and the nvidia grapchics card. -
2 unknown devices are probably: (1) sony firmware extension parser and (2) sony programmable I/O control device. these 2 drivers as well as the fingerprint driver are all available from sony.
take a look at this thread:

I strongly suggest NOT using anything from the XP disc. Do NOT install Intel video driver, the nVidia driver for Vista (x64 or x86) contains functionality for both graphics cards and the SPEED/STAMINA switch. There is no need to patch anything either. It's all very straightforward. You do need to follow certain order of instalation in some cases (they are noted on the Z690 driver download page). -
tnx for the link sir! ill read the thread later!
