Last June I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my vgnz540. Took a few days but got everything working and has been fine until a few days ago. I started to notice my built in webcam was flaking out (wouldn't be there when I went to skype). Usually a reboot would bring it back. Now rebooting won't bring it back and I am getting constant popups saying USB Device Not Recognized. In device manager there's a triangle exclamation on Unknown Device down in USB controllers.
I have disabled/enabled the unknown device.
I have uninstalled/scanned for hardware changes.
I have reinstalled Intel Chipset drivers from the Sony support site for this model.
I have reinstalled Intel Chipset drivers from Intel site.
I have updated Arcsoft Webcam software.
Anybody have any advice?

SOLVED
Tried uninstalling ALL usb controllers in device manager and rebooting - did not help. Even tried shut down - no help.
So what did fix it? Shut down, remove power cord, remove battery, count to five, put in battery, plug in power, boot up. Windows found new device, installed drivers - SUCCESS -
Maybe not...
Seems after laptop has been in sleep it's ok.
But then if I close the lid I hear the b-donk windows usb disconnect noise.
And when I open the lid get the "USB Device Not Recognized" pop up again.
I have lid close actions to do nothing. Always have.
Used same Sleep mode since clean install.
Don't know why this has become a problem within just the past few days. Sucks
