Did anyone installed minimized version of vista using vlite or similar?
I'm specifically interested to do it on TZ but other experiences are welcome.

    Thanks

I tried my own customized vista made by vlite on my TZ in order to compare with XP on TZ.
All drivers and utilites on recovery disk of TZ work fine.
However, as you know, customized vista by vlite varies, depending on who did the modification, so I think nobody can be sure of it.

Don't you do it yourself by selecting/unselecting checkboxes?
    What components did you removed?
    What size did it took?
    Is performance improved?

    Thanks

I created a vLite Vista Ultimate myself from my Vista-DVD. It's just a mater of a few minutes.

    I removed:
    - asian language support
    - windows media center
    - printer drivers (exept the HP ones because I have a HP printer)
    - media samples and screensavers
    - tablet-pc support

The installation size of that vLite Ultimate is little below 5GB and by that w hole 3GB smaller than the full blown Vista without and loss of funcionality.

A gain in performance cannot be noticed, you mainly gein hdd space and get rid of bloaware you don't need (like asian languages for 1GB!!!).

    Cool, thanks.

Can you easily add what you removed later?
If, for example, you get another printer, is it just a matter of adding driver that comes with it?

No, that is not possible. You cannot install removed parts later. So you need to know what you want/need. But even if you are conservative you can gain 2GB by removing asian languages and some printer drivers as well as media samples (demo movie crap). Why would you want that later???

If you already have installed Vista can you run this vlite still?
