I installed Windows 7 on my VAIO. When I hit the volume button on the keyboard, now there's no volume display bar showing on the screen
-
You need the install the necessary Sony drivers and apps to have the volume /brightness OSD.
-
Please please could you send me the link to the correct driver and app as I have no idea where to find them. If you send the link, will I be able to just hit it and it will download?
The volume key does adjust the volume, but the bar doesn't show on the screen any more.
Thank you! -

Try this: Sony eSupport - Electronics
Under software drivers, look for those corresponding to your laptop. I think you're looking for Notebook utilities (?) -

There is this marvelous feature here on NBR called "search". With it you can find the answers to many of the questions you might have, including this one. There are entire threads devoted to this topic.

I have a VGN-FZ4000 Sony laptop

You can have a look at my clean install guide. The Sony drivers and utilities are both 32/64 bit compatible.
Your model's support link : Sony eSupport - VGN-FZ4000 - Software Updates & Drivers -
Actually I've been to that eSupport site, but am not sure which one to click on in order to solve the volume display bar issue.
