So I just did a clean install, and everything is working fine, except for it seems video files are looking a bit washed out. I have noticed that Catalyst Control Center is not installed, could it be related to that? And is it possible to install CCC after a clean install?

    Vista or Win7?
get updated drivers from ATI website and use "catalyst modder" to support the video card.

Could be a recipe for failure, if you still want the onscreen brightness controls to function. The Sony machines all require very specific drivers for the brightness controls to work. It is possible to mod the ATI ones of go to laptopstogo website and seek out ones already modded for a Vaio.
