my girlfriend ordered VPCEB3E1E VAIO laptop from ebay. This model is a few years old, but condition was like it has never been used.

Problem is, when i press number 1 key it writes "1" but also opens windows help. That means by pressing number 1 it works as num 1 button and F1 button. This problem repeats with other number keys. for example num 3 works also as F3.

Other problem is numpad. By pressing 1 i get "21" or "12".

I tried to boot ubuntu from CD to test if the problem hides in windows, but the problem appeared also on ubuntu.

i have searched web for solution but, didn't find anyone experiencing same problem.

forgot to mention, that my girlfriend said, that keyboard was functioning properly in the very beginning. Don't know if it's true, becouse i didn't try it in the beginning. Maybe some key combination did this.

That is pretty weird. I have a generation one P and I know that the ZIF connector for the keboard FFC is very small and delicate. It seems like if it were mis aligned slightly it could cause that sort of problem. Did the previous owner upgrade the hard drive? If they did they would have had to detach and re attach the FFC for the keyboard. That could have cause it. It is just a guess and a long shot at that. Seems possible though.

Either connector or bad keyboard. Seen this before.

^Considering it's an EB, I'm not sure how the P teardown guide helps ;)

You are right, I must be tired today, I thought he was talking about a P for some reason.
