hey guys..
i have this strange webcam problem on my vaio SZ, runnign XP Pro.
from the time i bought my laptop, the cam's never been functioning properly on WLM, always freezing up on video call or SOMETHING. after being advised by sony online to reset my BIOS, reinstall drivers, camera capture utlity, and all kinds of apps, it finally works for around 5-10min, sometimes even longer, before freezing. but twice, now..after freezing, i cancel the video call and my partner invites me again....as soon as i accept, i get the blue screen of death, and my computer crashes and reboots. thats quite annoying, especially since this laptop is just a week old and im trying to keep everything working nicely... any thing i can do to fix this, or find out wats wrong?? i posted on another forum about my webcam, and didnt receive a single reply..but now this blue screen thing popped up, and i hope someone can help me with this ....thanks!

Get a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000. They are on sale right now at Best Buy. The Sony cam works okay for stills, but it is horrible for video. Don't know what else to tell you. That's what I did anyway.

Get an external web cam. Otherwise, contact Sony customer support and send it back to them to get it checked.

i dont really want to buy an external cam...i already have one, but i find it inconvenient to take it around when i travel, which is why i liked the built in cam. i bought it online from the US and i live in singapore..and this is a US model, so they wont do anything about it here. not practical for me to send it to the US just for the cam...rather disappointing

in case anyone's having the same problem (i found a few threads with people having the same problem but no response), sony had issued a new driver on their site about a week after i started having troubles.. it solved it and the cam works great, so i dont need to lug around an external cam!
weird webcam problem
