    dear all

I bought myself a sony vaio vgn-fw560f 6 months ago on ebay, a factory refurb.

I had problems from the off but turned out to be a faulty RAM.

The system came with 2 RAM installed:

    1) Power Quotrent International
    MECEG523PA 01 02
    DDR2-800S 2GB

    2) HYNIX 4GB 2RX8 PC2-6400S-666-12
    HMP35156AFR8C-56 AB

I found the 2nd 4gb ram to be faulty, running a memtest(x86) shows it is many if not all bad sectors.

I wondered if this is the right type of RAM for the laptop which would be the cause of the error? or is it just plain faulty?

secondly, what type of RAM should I buy to replace the faulty 4gb.

and lastly, just for my education, what does 6400s and 800s mean?

    thanks a lot!!
