    what's the refresh rate for?

    It is my understanding that the higher the refresh rate of the screen, the easier it is on the eyes, and the less likely the image is to "tear" and deform.

    Unfortunately, though, it doesn't seem to be a real option on most video cards (at least not on the ATI3470 or 3650 or GMA's that I've checked, and I don't believe the NVIDIA 8400 or 8600, either). In other words, often the choice is something less significant than 40 or 60, e.g. 59 or 60. What you want is upwards of 70, I understand.
