Here is a photo with some info, I circled the chip which may be the PLL.
Please tell me what is written on it.

Also you have some black plastic thing covering part of the motherboard, the PLL could be under that.

And you have an extra miniPCIe port, circled in green.

I can't read what you wrote on the picture, it's too small :)
Here is photo what you want:

I put off all plastics which cover some part of motherboard, but there is nothing.
What you mean with extra miniPCIe?

Yep, looks like it's the PLL.
    SpectraLinear’s system clock generator.

thanks for reply. I wrote mail to "setFSB" guy to add this PLL to SetFSB. He answer me that he need datasheet. So I was looking for this datasheet but I found only for SL28640, SL28641 and SL28647. Same you found.
I already send mail to SpectraLinear to send me right datasheet for this PLL. I will see how they answer me.

If you can't get setfsb to work, you should consider the PLL pin mod.
It's not too hard, but it will probably void your warranty.

    Good luck :)

It's not mine laptop so I don't know if my friend wants PIN mod, I'll ask.
Guy from SetFSB answer me, that he can't help me without exact datasheet..
    SpectraLinear didn't answer me yet.

By the way, I see you have a T8100.
    I overclocked myne to 2.7ghz.
    Very nice CPU.

Be carefull with that OC on the 8600 though, I'm sure you have heard about the high failure rate they have.

I heard about failure 8600 but I don't have any problem with it.
OC in my signature is max I can reach. I don't use it all the time ;)

to kaniyan: read previous page, there is PLL. I don't have any progress for now. I'm just looking for some options (SetFSB, PIN mod...)

I have bad news.. kaniyan sended me datasheet and I sended it to guy who made SetFSB. Then he wanted screenshot of SetFSB diagnosis, but it not recognize anything. So this Vaio can't be OC using SetFSB...
So last chance I suppose is PIN mod, but I'm little affraid of this process.

    Hi Feroo.

I know this thread may be old, but we might be able to help each other out if you're still up for it.

I too have the SL28648 PLL Chip on my Vaio. My laptop model number differs, however. It is a VGN-FW590FSB, as does the rest of the PLL chip. The full number is as follows:
    SL28648 B-LC 0849 M8153A (Japan)

If you still have the datasheet, could you forward that along?

    Thanks.
