    Hey,
i installed a clean copy of XP.
i dont know which driver to use with the video card (the nvidia one, 7400).

the one that sony supply doesn't work good (all the nvidia option does not appear (the control panel).

i also a large banch of drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com,
each one had a different problem (one of the following)
    - the brightness change didn't wont (pressing the fn+f5/6 brings the GUI of the birightness up, but it doesn't change)
    - there is only the new control panel, and all the menues are scrambled (i am using hebrew on my machine (not main language). does not supposed to cause any prob, but apperently it is

please help me! i am getting crazy! i already spent two full nights trying to figuring up what to do.

if anyone installed it and it works, please tell me which driver he used..

I'm using 85.13. It has a new control panel but I'm not able to install it because the driver package doesn't include an exe file.

Does that mean all sz owners are stuck with sony drivers?

No, you dont need an exe file. You can (and should) always install a driver via teh control manager. All it needs is a valid inf file. Display drivers can be updated like any other driver. Go into the device manager and have a look at the properties of the graphics cards, there choose to update the driver and point to the dir the driver is in. You are not stuck with "Sony" drivers, they are the same as the ones from NVIDIA. Not every package comes with a Setup, thats all.

I'm quite aware of installing the drivers via the device manager....but that has nothing to do with the control panel for the nvidia driver(afaik). I do have the aforementioned driver installed, but I am not sure if I have the new control panel.
