    i have a vaio vgn-fe550g

    does anyone know if this laptop will run the dell 24 inch lcd?

    As long as it has VGA or DVI out, it will.

    size is kinda irrelevant, it's the resolution you need to check. The dell monitor is 1920x1200 I believe, which vaio do you have?

    some people think the unit has to "drive" the monitor. Thats BS because all the unit has to do is output the signal.

    Getting a good signal quality in resolution 1900*1200 is a far stratch for a VGA port.

    it depends a bit on how picky you are and how well the signal is from your vaio.

    for best results you should have DVI port. only few laptops have that.

    I had my Vaio TZ on 1680*1050 and I was not 100% satisfied. although it was very workable.
