hello everyone, i downgraded awhile ago from win vista to xp pro and have gotten everything to work except the brightness controls and the built in camera. Ive installed the camera driver but cannot get the vaio camera capture utility to work, is there another program i can use? i can get the brightness controls to come up with the "fn" key +f5.f6 but it wont adjust. i also tried adjusting the brightness through the vaio control center. Does anyone have any ideas?

its a shame. sony seems to have changed their old proprietary driver model to a more vista compatible acpi 3.0 mode.
for the display you can try the following:
forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=316953
if it stops with error messages, you can forget what i told =) -
I dont know about the program man, it looks kind of sketchy. i cannot afford to let it damage my display, but thanks for the help anyways. I would hope more people would respond
Lol i tried sonys live chat and asked them about it and the guy pretty much said you shouldnt of downgraded and he cant help me! I figured they wouldnt be able to do much, but it was worth a shot. Anyways im still happy about the downgrade" ha its more like a major upgrade as far as im concerned because as many of you know vista is a POS!! I love the apple and PC commercials ripping on vista, There awesome! -
seems i should not insert such warnings into the next version =) u can be sure the program wont destroy anything - if u are using it not again and again and again =)
if the program is able to change your brightness, then your computer seems to have the vista kind of backlight control... i guess sony is not willing to develop a new xp driver - but who knows.... always call them every two weeks and ask them until they have enough
winvgn-ar605e downgrade to xp, camera and brightness!!
