I notice the same thing on my TZ170 in SmartWi. I checked the conection rate on my Dling DR-655 and it shows a connection speed of 130. I posted the same question on the TZ Owners thread, but have not found a solution yet. Not a big deal in any event, but having SmartWi correctly indicate the connection would be nice.

Try setting the wireless adapter to 5 GHz instead of 2.4??

It took me forever to figure that one out...there should be a "Selected Wireless Function" icon on the bottom right that if you double-click will take you to a Wireless Device Switch menu to select 2.4 or 5 GHz, bluetooth, etc.

The warning it gives about bluetooth and 2.4 GHz WLAN operating at the same time may affect connection stability...anyone actually experience this?

gents- this problem frustrated me to no end. went through sony level 1 > 2 > 3 tech support without resolution. i finally found the answer. see thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/archive/index.php/t-168934.html

in short: you won't get wireless-n UNLESS you use WPA-2 AES security.

smartwi will NOT show "N", but you can verify 144 mbps via: cntrl-alt-del > task manager > networking. on the bottom you can see connection speeds.

    cheers,
