Does any one know why the I7 isn't offered on the z series now. Rep is telling me she doesn't know if and when it will be available on the i7.

It's no longer on the VPCZ1190X as that model is getting replaced by the VPCZ1290X. I assume it's just an issue of getting rid of stock of the old machine to make way for the new one. The VPCZ1290X, which should be available any day now, has the I7 processor.

There's a shortage of i7 processors. Lenovo hasn't made the x201s in weeks/months because of it.
