Well, it's finally out!
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=20153&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921665746555
I don't know if this warrants a new post, but.. I'm guessing that if Canada has it, US should have it too (but there might be no link to it)
btw, does anyone know what the other models are called? i can't seem to find 610/20/40 .. only the 90.. is only the 90 available?
and can anyone please refresh my memory, i can't remember the differences, i think there are only processor differences, like.. the 90 has 2.66, the 20 has 2.4.. etc., am i right?
EDIT: actually, seems like the page is still not completely up, but i'm guessing it'll be done by tomorrow. one more thing--why does everything cost more than before? extended battery is up 30$, blu-ray is up 150$, and the base price is quite a bit higher too
-
^ is that the refresh for the 590 or the 555?
nvm, found out... -
It is a CTO, so it is a Z590. In fact, the base price $2258 has the same spec as Z590 (except for the 64 bit vista). I think the increase price is due to the exchange rate which has caught up with the actual pricing.
Looking more into the spec: no stamina/speed switch, only 2 GB ram. This is really costly. Those holding out for the refresh will have to pay. -
-
If you look at the spec, it is basically a z590, only difference is 64 bit vista, 2 GB ram, and no mention of stimina/speed mode, and a lot more money.
-
i noticed if we order it rite now we can still use the $150 off coupon which is due jan 15th!!!!
-
Can we get Vista 64bit drivers from the Canada support site?
-
-
i can't find the coupon code for $150. can anyone point me towards it?
-
-
I can't believe the Blu Ray option actually went UP in price. Whatever, I'm over it. Next.

That page has been up for almost a month now.
It is a development page and even the data on it is incomplete or incorrect e.g. 62-bit. THis has been discussed in the official Z590 thread. -
tons of type-o's on the site.. but the P8700 is a better chip while still using 25W... I would avoid the P8700 though...it's not as good as the P9500, you loose half the cache but most will presume it's the same 2.53... tsk tsk Sony for sneaking that in...

why the hell didnt they show this on the main site and when i tried to order it, it still cant go thru and there's no way if u want to order it thru telephone cuz they will tell u its not available.
God I have been holding up for this for like a year! -
Gone are the days of sales and lower prices at sony, with their first operating loss in 14 years is it? Sony will probably keep prices now high and not only on their site, but to other resellers as well.
Which worries me, since I am waiting for the new oled walkman hehe.
as for the cpu, the extra cache is nice but if you will not be doing any cpu intensive work, such as video encoding, then the 2.26 or 2.4 ghz cpus are fine. -
Yeah, if I was looking to get a Z, I'd be tempted to get the 590 while it's still available, & save a couple of hundred bucks in the process.
Although since it's a test site, it's possible the pricing doesn't exactly reflect what the final pricing will be. -
hi MrT-Man
i'm just wondering, are you planning on getting the Z in canada? i'm hoping that it's just in testing, that's why everything is higher priced, but.. i dont know.. -

Someone had mentioned that Sony raised their prices 25% in Australia, earlier this month, because their currency has gotten hit like ours has. So between that & the pricing on the Z test site, that got me paranoid that we might be looking at a price increase here too.
It was an easier call on the TT, since there doesn't seem to be much of a change in the TT refresh (Vista 64-bit, that's about it).
It'd be a bit of a tougher call on the Z since, all else being equal, it'd be nicer to have the premium carbon case and better processor, for example -- but not if the test site prices are for real. -
aw man.. i don't think the CAD has necessarily gone down, i think it's just that everyone in the US is investing in the government treasury bonds or whatever because it's currently not safe in the stock market, and because of this.. the USD is very high at the moment (i'm going to predict it will go down quite rapidly soon)
since you mentioned Australia, i'm guessing these will be the actual prices.. dam, well, thanks for the update! -

# 128 GB Solid State Drive [add $820.00]
# 128 GB Solid State Drive (64GB x 2) [add $820.00]
# 256 GB Solid State Drive (Windows XP Professional downgrade disk not included when this option is selected) [add $1,520.00]
.. what kind of SSDs are Sony using? They better be over 200MB/s read/write! -
you can actually almost buy a Z540 with the 256GB SSD

brain boy said: ↑I don't think it's actually been released yet and available for sale. Like someone mentioned on the Z thread, it is most likely a test site. They just added prices. The price does seem rather high, but it is in CAD, which is currently 1.25 CAD = 1 USD, so it's not criminally expensive.Click to expand...

vaiodyssey said: ↑The price seems to be unreasonable, yes its the rate thing but why should Canadians pay for it? People from states wont spend extra dollars to come up and purchase the Canadian version just because its a bit cheaper!Click to expand...

turns out that they finally fixed the "62 bit" thing on the canadian z690 site and everything seems to be in order, so.. i'm guessing this means that the 6 series will almost definitely be out this sunday.. for both US and canada!
can anyone please tell me if the 610/20/etc are also going to be options? i'm wondering if they'll just change the 540 to 640 and the 590 to 690.. why do i hear people talking about the 610/20/etc? are they preassembled models? -

sorry, do you know if the 610/620 are CTO or are the 640/690 the only CTOs?
