yes he does. i dont if there is an other program that can read those fans speed.

But now we have fans monitoring!
One thing i discovered using it is than the fans, at least in my machine, are never turned off, even if the laptop is cool they still rotate, at relatively low speed and they are almost silent. -

OK. So I've never uploaded any files to this site before. I hope they attached properly.
I'm having an issue with hwinfo sometimes not taking temperature readings on both cards. There are times after I game when I close out and switch to hwinfo sensors which are already running. Sometimes the temps only read on one card. Sometimes both cards are blank almost as if the monitoring was disabled (but it isn't). If someone could help me with this I would appreciate it. I ran hwinfo in debug mode and grabbed a log file which is attached. I also attached a picture of the sensor monitoring during debug mode. It looks to be fine, but one of the GPU fans monitoring is missing. Is this normal? I'm new to hwinfo but it is a pretty great program so far. Thanks to the creator. It seems to run as normal in debug mode. I can try to run it again after I game if the required information is missing.

This attached picture shows the clocks on one of my 5870s at 100/150. The other is at 300/400. I know this is not an M17X R2 thread, but maybe someone who has experience with HWInfo and an M17X R2 with new beta drivers can tell me if this is normal or if I need to get on the phone with AW support.

Thanks for the report.
1. Please make sure to close the System Summary window
2. If you run HWiNFO32 in Debug Mode, please attach the HWiNFO32.DBG file it produced. This file is vital for me to find the cause.
3. In case it doesn't show the most errors in Debug Mode, please run it without Debug Mode and attach a screenshot where the situation is visible.
When I have all that data, I can check what happens there.
One more question: When you start HWiNFO32 do you see all those values and they disappear after you run a game? Do those values completely disappear or show "0" ? -
OK. I have found the dbg file. I haven't been able to duplicate the problem yet. It seems to be intermittent. I will attach the .dbg file and a screenshot when I get it to work...or not work.
Thanks for the help.
Oh and to your last question, the answer is both. I have had times where the current temps on the 1rst card read 0. Last night however, both cards displayed no data and were completely empty after playing. -
I have some screen shots of what is happening. One with 0's for the current temp on the first card and one with the first card not monitored. It seems to run fine and detect sensors normally in debug mode. I attached the debug file anyways. Had to rename it to .txt to get it to upload. I assume removing .txt will allow it to be readable.

Thanks for the data. I see the situation better now.
So in Debug Mode there are no such issues and you see all values?
Can you please try to download the latest Beta (build 894) and check if that has the same issues?
-
-
Hard to say that.. Might be caused by the ATI ULPS feature which shuts down an unused secondary GPU. In that case accessing registers of such GPU can cause all sorts of exotic things (from invalid reading to a BSOD).
-
I have installed the beta. Looks good so far. I will test it further tonight with some gaming and see if it holds up. Thanks for the help and the great program!
-
Please let me know about the results..
If the problem persists maybe it might be worth to try to disable the ULPS feature for ATI to see if that helps.
-
100% reproducible, once summary window opens GPU0 temps in sensors drop to 0 and only full program restart helps.
Attached is a debug file.Attached Files:

FYI....Same results with the beta install of HWInfo. Since mfractal also can reproduce it, I can probably assume it is not a problem with my cards.
It seems to run better in debug mode. I don't see the same problems when I run it in debug. I disabled System Summary and ran in normal mode and this seems to produce stable temp monitoring on both cards.
Last thing and maybe mfractal can answer this....Sometimes it says one of my 5870s is running at 100/150 mhz processor and memory clock speeds. Do these cards perform some type of throttling when not under heavy load? Is this normal? -
I will monitor it more closely and let you know. -
Cool. I assumed they throttled but the one card did seem really low. Let me know what you find. My 2 cards currently read 100/150 and 300/400. They max at 700/1000 I believe. I am currently using the old Dell drivers as the new ones cause quite a bit of instability in my system.
-
Modern GPS use similar techniques as CPUs - they lower the clocks and voltages (according to predefined P-State tables) when there is no load. Then they raise it depending on load.
So the issue with values=0 occurs only when you open the summary window?
If this is only related to the Summary Window open, then it's clearly a HWiNFO32 bug that I'll need to fidn and fix. -
I think so. Each time I've opened it without the summary, it has displayed the correct current temps instead of 0's. I will test with some gaming later on tonight. Thanks for the knowledge! I appreciate all the help both of you have given me. +1 to both.
-
I'm analysing the DBG you attached, but can't see a problem there..
Could you please make more experiments how does it behave? I.e. select GPU #1 in Summary and then see if the GPU #1 sensor looses values too.
Also when you have Summary open as first and then open Sensors are the GPU values 0?
-
It immediately drops all GPU0 temps to zero. -
What about the other questions (select GPU#1, etc) ?
-
Sorry, didn't understand your request at first
Hope that helps. -
Here a new Beta:
www.hwinfo.com/beta/hw32_357_899.zip
please check if the problem with ATI sensor values getting lost or 0 still persists.
I assume it occured after new boot only the first time when you run HWiNFO32. Hope it's fixed now... -
Looks like the beta _899 fixed the issue for me. Gamed last night with hwinfo on in the background. No loss of reporting temperatures on GPUs. Opened with Summary several times and didn't see any 0's next to current temps or complete loss of sensors on either card. Looks good! Please note, I am using old Dell drivers for M17X R2 (ATI 8.692.2.0). Beta ATI/Dell drivers have not been stable enough for me to use so it is still untested. Thanks for the help!
-
Thanks for the feedback and testing. Without such reports I woldn't be able to find several issues and improve it.
-
Every time I try and install this it says I need administrative permissions, but I am the only person who uses this computer and thus have the main administrative account. So I'm a bit confused.
EDIT: Never mind I figured it out... -
was it a UAC issue ?
-
UAC I guess. Depends on OS and exact message.

I need a Report + Debug file in order to check why that happened and fix it..
-
How would I get that for you? It completely froze and I held the power button.
-
Enable Debug Mode in HWiNFO32 before starting the scan. After it freezes reboot the machine and the send me the HWiNFO32.DBG file it created.
-
anyone have issues with HWinfo not recognizing the RGB monitor?? the first installation i had did but when i upgraded to the newer version it now says non-RGB.
-
that's what mine shows about the lcd (latest beta)
-
Mine hasn't frozen again, so that seems to be fine.
Not sure what to use it for other than temp monitors. I need to get more hardware savvy! -

shouldn't the program auto update itself or is it only official releases that get promoted ?
-
It should just notify that a new update is available and redirect to the download page. You need to have at least v3.59 Beta in order to have this feature and "Auto Update" enabled in Configure.
-
ok, restarted the program now and got the update window!
So it only checks when the program starts ?Attached Files:

That's it
-
Just to say thanks. This is the only hardware monitor i tried that can get sensor temps of all disks, cpu, and gpu in my Dv7 pavillion (M520,HD45xx). It also gets the HDD temperature from my simple cheap Esata disk enclosure which is a surprise.

could you please add support for temperature detecting of default M17X R2 ram modules (Hynix)?
