    [Vista]Hibernation and sleep options disappear

    Why do the hibernation and sleep options disappear from the Start Menu? Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.

    It can be related to not installed/corrupted video drivers. I'd suggest you to reinstall the latest drivers for your graphic card.

    (Could also be related to virus/spyware or edit you may have done to the registry)

    I think you run the command prompt as administrator and then enter the following command:

    powercfg /hibernate on

    I had a similar problem with the hibernate feature and this command solved it for me.
