    When installing the following program,

I get the warning by Avira that this is a Trojan.

According to Cnet all the software is spyware free, who to believe ?

This is their website, they have awards from different companies

I remember having also a warning for Glarys Utilities which is not spyware...

It is a keylogger. Even programs that generate serial keys or crack programs are considered viruses and trojans because of the nature of the program.

That program IS a keylogger, not a malicious one, but a keylogger is a keylogger.

Avira probably thinks its a malicious piece of software. Because key logging utilities can be used to steal information Avira probably is not making a distinction between those you're installing as opposed to those which have installed themselves without permission. Some software is only malicious in the wrong hands... If they release the source code you can look there, or check with other virus scanners for their opinion. You are probably fine.

Just looked at the CNET link.... from the description this is the kind of spyware companies can use, or parents can use on your kids...

And as the above posters said - its most likely not malicious - but does the same, hence Avira picks it up.
You'd have to make that programme an exception so it won't notify the user.

On a side note - you might want to check the legality of such a program.

Since there is no way to determine what your real use for the program is and since discussion on bypassing security measures(keyloggers are primarily used to get sensitive information) is prohibited , this thread is closed.

My advice use it at your own risk...some programs make their money off paid version while other make their money on more nefarious uses(remote log delivery via email can work both ways)
