well, I was using AIM and this Application Error popped up like so



I looked in other forums and they told me to run this Hijack thing..idk..it seemed like something that would just cause me to ruin my computer more..


oh, im running an HP Pavillion a1410n my OS is Windows XP Media Center Edition

 

please someone help

 

try running AdAware, then an AV scan, then un.install/re.install ur AIM. Try doing a complete clean up when un.installing AIM (meaning delete folders, cCleaner afterward)

It could quite simply be a bug in the AIM client.

 

thats what im thinking, AIM crashes every so often, so i decided to completely delete the previous AIM and try downloading a new copy. anyways, i hope this works, thanks guys, keep the ideas coming!

 

If that doesn't work, get rid of Google Toolbar and see if it helps.

 

I experienced the same problem yesterday on my sisters laptop. (different memory address, but essentially the same issue I guess)

The fix I found, was this:

1. Disable automatic updates.
2. Reboot.
3. Run windows update manually (I installed all updates, including "recommended" ones).
4. Reboot.
5. Re-enable automatic updates.

(All the rebooting may not be necessary, but hey, at least it worked)

I hope this works out for you aswell.

well, im at school right now so im going to try all of these when i get home. i ran the microsoft malicious software remover before i left as well. i have a feeling removing the google toolbar and disabling microsoft updates could do the trick.
