This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    wow... so I guess maybe the 9MB Bing Desktop or something is being applied as a windows update on my AW17.. and I'm at over 1 hour now waiting on this update... starting to think something went wrong.. Any suggestions how I can get out of this without making an even bigger mess?

    was bing desktop the only update you ran?

    And of course that is one he should have NOT installed. Shut it down and do a restore to some date prior you installing that Bing thing. Don't set windows updates to automatic. Always do it manually.
