My FE790 has between 10-43% CPU use even when I freashly boot the system up and have done nothing.

I'm using only 267mb of RAM at loadup.

    The "system" is reading 10-43%

    but nothing is running

I run defrag every 3-4 days, with updated AVG, spybot, windows defender, ccleaner, ad-aware.

is it because I'm using 78% of my HDD?

Nah, 78% of the HDD is nothing.
Have you tried looking at the Sysinternals Process Explorer; you might get a better picture of what's using up the resources.

If you look at your Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) and then click on the CPU title, it will sort the processes by CPU usage. Which one is sitting at the top there, using all the CPU?
