I use yahoo for my home page with Internet explorer 8. Just recently noticed everything on the yahoo page being slow to load so I checked task manager and found that its using 100% of my cpu on the laptop in my sig. The cursor in the yahoo search box is blinking like crazy too. No other page I load is doing that. Also if I go to my yahoo email cpu returns to minimum usage. So the problem seems to be only on the yahoo home page. I use full versions of SuperAntiSpyware and Avira but neither are detecting anything wrong.
What do you guys think? Is is a bug?

Some flash on the page maybe?
Can you try another browser? -
What happens if you do a shutdown and restart?
-
I tried multiple restarts but that didn't work. I installed Firefox and the yahoo home page cpu usage is back to normal. I might just stay with Firefox now.
I'm guessing its a Internet explorer problem. Thanks.

Yahoo homepage does same thing on my laptop. It uses 100% of one logic thread.

yejun, yeah but do you know why the Yahoo homepage is using up a 100% CPU only in Internet explorer? In Firefox I'm using 2 to 5% CPU.
I uninstalled IE8 and reinstalled it but that didn't help either. It is possible that I had this problem for a while or even all along and didn't notice it. -

It could be a malfunctioning ad script - have you had any alert windows pop up saying that a script on the page is taking too long to run and asking if you want to terminate the script or not?

download the flash uninstaller from here;

run it, then reinstall it, and see if the problem goes away. -

gerryf19, took your advice and that was the fix I needed. Thanks!

How's about without all that yucky white background?
-
It looks worse.
