when installing win7 and creating a parition it made a primary parition with all space and a little parition with 100mb.. what is that 100mb parition for?

Its for recovery tools.
That partition is only created when you use the built-in partitioner in 7. -
loosing 100mb isnt a problem.. aslong as it somehow helps windows

It is better than carrying a windows 7 disk around with you, but will not help if your drive is fubar'd
Personally, with today's big drives, the convenience exceeds the cost -
ItÂ’s also used for BitLocker. Since this is the standard for Windows partitioning now, might as well just leave it.
