I don't remember Microsoft ever offering up themes for download like this. You would see one or two on their download site, but never anything like this.

Now, are these the same as the localized stuff that will be in the final release though? That's what I'm thinking.

By "localized", do you mean part of the RTM installation? Maybe, unless these things will be reserved as Windows 7 Ultimate Extras....

Hmm. I just remember reading that depending on where you say that you live when you install you will be given an extra choice of themes/wallpapers related to your country/region.

Well all the wallpapers and themes are installed regardless of what region you select, but windows hides the ones that aren't 'relevenet' to your region. All you have to do is go unhide the folder and copy the files over to use them.

But if microsoft is going to post these themes online it seems pointless to hide them on the retail version.

Yes, this is the most Microsoft has ever done as far as themes go. It's a start.

    No Alienware theme then. :(

I'm gonna install Alienguise and see if that works with Win 7...

And let's face it those themes aren't all that great, they're just a background pic and a color, the color you could probably create yourself with the color mixer option and the pics you can source from anywhere on the www...

They should make it so you can download all the theme files at once :p
