There are 15 instances of svchost.exe in system, local service and network service. I am working on a DTP project so I have a whole bunch of utilities and apps running at the same time. But 15 instances? Is that normal

Edit: I don't know how relevant this is but I have an HP dv6700t with Vista Home Premium and 3Gb of RAM.

    Yes it's normal.

Right-clck a svchost.exe process, click "Go to Services", and you will see what services are in that process.

You can also add a Command Line column to show the full command line, including the parameters or switches used to launch the process:

View -> Select Columns -> Check the box for "Command Line"
