I just opened my new Vaio and I'm already lost...Vista is WAY different than XP  and I am so lost it's comical! I can't even find the control panel to get rid of all the crapware. I really would like to use this new computer some time this century so..

How do you get to the classic view and is there a good website that will be get me started with Vista basics (not microsoft.com, I've already been there)? I've googled but couldn't find any specific sites that made logical linear sense.

    Thanks in advance.

Control Panel is on the start menu. If not, right click the Windows Orb (start menu) and select properties, then on the start menu tab click customize. There you can set the options of what you want to show up there.

Vista is very different from XP, but give it a few weeks and it will start to make sense to you. People hate change, but are very good at adapting to it.

when you go into control panel don't click classic view on the left side, click control panel home, then under programs click uninstall a program. you can also get to control panel by clicking windows key and e and looking on the left side. i didnt have to much difficulty switching, the only thing that kept throwing me off was right clicking on the desktop.

The reason you're confused is that the MY prefix has been removed from everything. no more My Documents. It's Documents now. Contropl Panel, Computer, Music, no MY

I just meant people in general. It's something to keep in mind as you move through life and especially your career. It really is a universal truth... it's why you see everyone complaining about Vista... mostly because it's different, not because it sucks.

I do know what you mean, Quill... Vista is a lot different from XP, and it took me a little while to get used to the new organization of things.

I suggest you mess around with it, even if you BSOD your computer, just play with it. I played with mine and got used to it. I did some bad things that i had to system restore to get back to normal but eventually i learned the ins and outs.
