So after dual booting win 7 RC and vista for 3 months now, I am ready to install the 7 RTM. Here's what I'm thinking. Since I used the 7 RC for gaming only and only had games installed on it, it is running lightning fast and I do notice a performance difference between it and vista when gaming. However, when I want to do some work which requires productivity programs, I switch to the vista partition and put all the junk in there. So I was thinking of making 2 partition and having 7 on one of it and vista on the other. 7 for gaming and vista for other stuff. BTW 7 will go into the 1st partition so it will me on the outer rim. Why haven't anyone thought of this yet? Instead of having 2 partitions and only 1 OS, why not have 2 partitions and 2 OS?

Most people are lazy or don't know about dual-booting/partitioning or just don't need another OS when their current one is running well...personally I dual boot with two partitions(XP and Linux) and plan to run some virtual machines(most likely other Linux distro and Wind 7 if I can get it for cheap)...speaking of virtual machine, you can use a virtual machine to run Vista so that there will be no need to reboot when you want to use Vista.

I know the casual users won't go through all the trouble but hardcore gamers who go through all the trouble overclocking, switching drivers etc2. They can easily gain a few fps by gaming on a FRESH OS.

That's what I've done. I have Windows 7 on my second HDD, and Vista on my first, and I use 7 for all my games and Vista for my schoolwork and stuff. Windows 7 is a lot faster when it comes to games, I have noticed, and I gained at least 5 FPS in Crysis from switching.

if you have to use vista for the rest, do dual booting of some form, else, just use win7 for "the rest", too.
