Help please. Im having these 2 problems:

    1. My mouse pointer: I change it to one I downloaded from deviantart, but on reboot, it changes back to the default pointer!

2.Ive got a CD my laptop wont run. Its my X-rays, which have an .exe file which, when double clicked, doesnt run. AND, I have been able to run it on another pc which also has Vista.

    Help!

You are looking at two very different problem here.
    (points 1 & 2)

Part 2 - it could be a broken drive (it can happend that a driver partially works) - try copying files over then running the .exe file.
    Else: Try another computer.
Is the .exe for XP, Vista?

i have tried copying the files to my HD, but the file still doesnt open. I have been able to open in another pc with vista.

For the mouse pointer, I am able to apply it, but the next time I turn on my computer, the pointer is back to default, even though in the control panel it is still set as "graphite" (my new pointer)

    Thanks!
