I see a few options I have.
Frist Instal Windows xp and Windows vista on two differnt partions.
Or
Virtural PC for older Programs and so on.
And the Last Idea. Use Windows in your Pocket from Tomshardware to install windows xp pro and programs useing a 8 to 16gb flash drive.

If you need both XP and Vista alot I would use a boot manager. If you want to run mainly Vista and just need Xp sometimes then a VM would work for that. -
I'm with wave. I dual-boot my desktop, though I very rarely boot into XP. n my notebook I have XP running in VPC 2007, though, again I almost never use it.
Both work, but serve different purposes. If there are memory/processor/graphics intesive apps or pretty much any games then dual-booting is the way to go. Otherwise a VM works well enough for light apps.
