Can't get Virtualbox to work! I think it has something to do with my new laptop. The processor is : 2NDG ICI5-2410M
On intels website :
Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) Yes
Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) No
I don't' know what that means but I really hope I can run guest OS's in Virtualbox. I know I updated it and its the latest version. When I hit START the error pops up right away. I have 2 processors selected to run the GUEST and VT-x acceleration is checked.
Can someone help me please?

Make sure that virtualization is enabled in your bios if you going to use VT-x
-
Does it work if you uncheck VT-x?

How do you enter the BIOS on a thinkpad? I have a L420.

No it doesn't , maybe I have to enable it in the BIOS. I'm not at the laptop right now but I'll check it out. Most computers that I've used it was already enabled so this is new for me to have to enable it. Anyone know under what heading the VT-x is?

VT-x is how they pass processor commands directly through to the CPU. VT-d is passing data commands directly through, and it's reserved pretty much only for server CPUs. Neither are actually needed to run VirtualBox.

I wonder if its because the L series defualt power setting is set to balanced and I have to turn up the settings to run VB? Just a thought
2nd Gen intel + Virtualbox
