When I get the dvd on thursday, will I be able to choose to install either the 32bit or 64bit version of premium?
-
you will get two disks one for 32bit the other for 64bit, you choose
-
really 2 disks?
-
^Yes. The 32-bit disc will make a great coffee coaster.
-
It depends on how you get the dvd.
-
well i'm getting it from the free upgrade
-
Then it depends how you got your copy of Vista... see here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com...l/thread/a0ffc0ff-9e0d-4218-b6cc-22d1c3bb4ffb
If it came pre-installed on your PC, then I believe you'll just get one version which should be the same kind (32 or 64-bit) as the version of Vista you have. -
ok thanks for the info i guess i'm going to torrent the 64bit version lol and use my key to activate it
-
Upgrades are limited to the original OS so if it was Vista Home premium 32 bit that is what you get with a 32 bit key, you cannot download the 64 bit off torrents lets say and use the key it would have to be a 64 bit key.
When I bought this laptop a week ago I made sure it was 64bit Vista so I would get the 64 bit Win 7 ( hey free is free)
Just know that Toshiba owners will not get the upgrade till December.
Sucks I know. -
This is incorrect. There is no difference between a 32 bit and 64 bit key. I have verified this on both vista and 7.
-
Yup. You still need to get the installation disc somehow and those, I know, are different. Oh well, torrents to the rescue.
-
funny thing i don't know if i have a dvd still so if it comes to it i'll just use the usb trick
-
What's the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit OS?
Generally, do the same programs work within both systems?
Trying to decide which version I should be installing when I receive my copy.
Thanks. -
^^ you should really refer to the hundreds of other threads that explain this porperly...
