    3D studio Max type software

    i like to design 3D object and some animation, is there any software that is cheap but like 3D stuido max? b4 when i was not so wise and quite young (i was 13 then) i had a shady copy of 3d studio max 5 or 6 i think. I learned a lot on it experimenting and reading tutorials. But then i realized that its wrong so i stopped using it. Now i would like to buy it but its way too expensive for me. :(

    so my question is; Are there any other software (cheap) which are like it? i m not a professional or anything but i just do some of this work for fun as a hobby
