I was given an older dell notebook with a shot battery, corrupt OS, no windows product key, No charger and a cracked screen. I physically removed the screen and bezel, found an old universal notebook power supply, installed XP home using a product key off an old machine and mounted the notebook behind my TV so at this point its basically a wall-mounted all-in-one desktop. Fun little quick project for the evening which didn't cost a cent and brings some life to old hardware I had sitting around.

Whats extremely frustrating is I'm unable to find any media center software I can leave running which will allow me to search and stream Netflix with a remote friendly UI like on Roku, Xbox360, etc.. I have an HP media center remote and USB receiver which I used back in the day with Windows Media Center on Vista so all I need at this point is the software. I have done a lot of searching but so much of what I'm coming up with isn't helping me since a lot of things no longer work.

Always appreciate the help - Thank You!

What about XBMC? will that work? as long as the GPU supports OpenGL 1.4 it will work.

It works on The Raspberry Pi so Im sure the old dell will work.

If not try Media browser or Geexbox, from what I can tell this does work with windows machines.

I haven't read a lot of documentation but these give you idea's

Unfortunately none of those work. XBMC used to work back in the day with Netflix but not any more. Geexbox is based off XBMC and Media Browser doesn't support Netflix either. I was even thinking about converting my XP Home install to MCE05 but apparently Netflix support has been broken for a while on older MCE editions :-(. Anyone know if Vista's Media Center is Netflix compatible still?
