Why would you want to use a 3rd party BIOS in the first place? It's an extremely bad idea to use anything but the manufacture released BIOS unless you are fully versed with coding the BIOS yourself.

yeah you are playing with fire and could end up bricking your notebook. very dangerous idea. and even if it works, you will probably loose functionality or have bugs, because a 3rd party is not likely to know better how to code it for your laptop than your manufacturer is.

There is no 3rd party BIOS per se.

It is more like that once in a blue moon, you can use a BIOS intended for another brand/model on your comp, based on the same motherboard and chipset.

Apart from this, you are skirting security issue.

    cheers ...

Flashing a BIOS from a different vendor onto your computer is a really bad idea.

Even if your laptop/motherboard has the same chipset, there are so many other things to worry about, like hardware monitoring chips, PCI and ISA buses, plus control for voltage regulation which varies greatly for each manufacterer.
