Just thought I'd share this link. Some you've already heard of, some you haven't. This is a nice list of small sized apps/tweaks.

Thanks for the link. That Fotografix one seems kind of interesting. I will have to give it a try later on.

It's pretty good. It's not as robust as Gimp or nearly robust as PS, but for simple editing with layers it does the job well. Good to keep on a thumb drive as it's completely portable and doesn't touch the reg.
-
Maybe this link should be incorporated in the OP of the free Windows software thread?
-
Excellent link! I'm sure to make use of several of these! +1
-
Nice link but so many out of date (or not updated since a few years) apps though :-(
cheers ... -
Most of them seem up to date to me. Some are discontinued and no developed/updated/supported but still good apps. Especailly for it's size and portability.
Which apps are you speaking on cause I didn't get the chance to try them all myself? -
And just because not updated recently, doesn't make them any less useful. Some apps are fine for what they do. I still use a couple 3rd party apps that haven't been updated since 2003. But they serve their purpose and get the job done.
-
I myself backup some old apps that I find valuable to me. You don't know how many great free apps turned into pay apps only to find that it's nearly impossible to get your hands on the free version again.
-
I'm not so sure about some of these on a _Vista 64-bit system, but I still have three systems under my care that run XP, so it's good to have some of these apps tucked away just in case.
My only real problem with a lot of these things is that I become a collector (more properly, a digital packrat), with hundreds of ill-documented .exe's lying around in disk directories I hardly visit any more. Just wish my real closets were as easy to clean out as my electronic closets (wouldn't a "delete" button on the basement door be great?). -
Very Nice!
-
As far as portable apps go, I haven't ran into one that gave me problems yet on Vista x64. It's the older larger programs that give the most problems. But I would be wary of the encryption apps on that list though. -
I use several of these on my Vista 64 machine without any problems:
7-Zip
Everything
Putty
uTorrent
CCleaner
FileHippo Update Checker
HijackThis
UltraDefrag -
Thanks for the link LIVEFRMNYC (+rep), looked through the list, and there is some really handy ones in there.
Out of those though, I picked out Wakoopa, as it seems like a great idea to be introduced to new software by friends and contacts.
Heres my profile anyway: Wakoopa -
Super nice find +rep those programs will come in handy soon...

I like the unlocker. It is a great software. Basically, I use it on Windows XP because XP always give me bunch of error/can't delete files.
The 40+ list is really awesome.
Many of the important software are listed out. However, many of them are useless to me because I don't know how to use them and some of it I don't think I need them. LOL.
