Is there a way to convert Vista Business Edition to Vista Business 64-Bit? I ordered a Vostro 1700 Yesterday and I want to be able to have access to 4 gb's of RAM. How can I do this?

I'm assuming your copy of Vista Business x64 is an OEM version that will come with your notebook? If i'm correct, then you cannot order the x64 disk from Microsoft directly. What you can do is purchase a 64-bit anytime upgrade disk and do a clean install on your system. See the guides in my sig. Best of luck.

he is correct. You cannot get the 64 bit copy from microsoft unless you have purchased the FULL version retail copy. ( which I believe the ultimate comes with both anyways, although not sure about business )

You have 2 options really: 1. you can buy the full version and then have microsoft sell you the 64 bit for $10 or you can get the 64bit business upgrade.(either way will cost a good amount) ick! 2. you can call dell and try to convince them to send you a 64bit OEM (maybe they might give it to you or charge you, or maybe just say no.... but it's worth a shot !)

You also can't upgrade from a 32bit OS to a 64 bit OS. You need to do a clean install.
