Hi, trying to upgrade from Vista to 7 here by making a bootable USB drive. (I'm doing a clean install from 32-bit Vista to 64-bit 7). However, the Microsoft ISO-to-USB tool tells me I'm missing the 32-bit version of the "bootsect.exe" file, which I haven't been able to find on the Microsoft website. Anyone know where I can find a legit version of the file?

"Upgrading" to windows 7 must use same o/s bit,,32 bit to 32 bit, 64 bit to 64 bit.
Clean install should be no problem. I upgraded from vista 64 bit sp2 to win 7, I bought a retail disk version with license(MS 32bit & 64bit dvd included), installed without a glitch.

    Cheers

Hey I burnt the ISO from the legal windows 7 downloads post. I ran the cd on my Vaio XP Pro 32bit and did the custom and used the 7 Ultimate 64bit for around a month on a trial. I purchased 7 Pro 64bit and did the custom and had no problem. My sister gave us her Toshiba Vista laptop a few months ago and it has hardly seen the light of day. This last weekend I put a trial of 7 home premium on it. My son and daughter are arguing about who will use it next. If I can replace the cpu fan I will put a registered copy on it. I liked how toshiba had the driver install program.
