I'm still using the RC for windows 7, and I intend to change that. I'm just wondering how I should go about it.

I currently am considering: RTM Ultimate, which my friend is not using; Professional Upgrade, which I can purchase with a student discount; and Retail Ultimate, which my same friend will sell me. The RTM is free, which is why it's my first choice. However, I am willing to consider the Professional Upgrade and the Retail Ultimate if I think it is worth it. What are the differences between each of them? Advantages and disadvantages?

I'd like to format with a clean install. Will my RC system image be compatible with the three I am considering? Should I do the upgrade option instead? Should I format/clean install, copy my files over, and reinstall my apps?

I realize I asked a lot of questions, but I need the process to go as efficiently as possible since I use my computer constantly for school.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

    No.

Clean install means you delete everything you have now and install... clean.

You can not do anything else with an RC. You can not upgrade or switch to a full version. Reformat.
