I did a complete xp reinstall. On idel im using about 280 mb/!! What the heck is this!! My programs are taking forever to load. America Online, I Tunes , Mozilla. These arent that demanding for my 9300 to handle. I just dont understand it. Should i just do another reinstall? Also i think security program is keeping programs from working properly. im currently using zone labs security suite and its just annoying. Any suggestions? PLease help this is driving me insane.

When you reinstalled the programs, probably most of them had it where they are set to automatically start. This will make your boot up time take forever because it has to start all of these programs.

If there are programs that you don't need to start on each boot up, then you should turn them off. Personally I turn off all of my programs except for firewall and virus scanner.

To turn them off goto start-->run-->msconfig-->startup tab

thats what i did. i ran msconfig and turned off all processes except virus stuff. And i still have 37 processes running at idle. What is a good antivirus program that will keep my computer safe and clean without being annoying? Zone labs SEcurity Suite is just ridiculous with all the alerts. i need a new program.

i use Free AVG. So far i haven't had any problems with it. Its not a resource hog or anything like that.

Is there any program in the task manager that is using up all of your CPU?

How much ram do you have?
