Hi guys,
I got a free version of (5.3) Macrium Reflect for my W7 x 64 SP1 box...It installed and createad a Rescue DVD (PE 3.1) just fine without downloading additional stuff. However as being fairly new to imaging/cloning subject, i want to ask 3 things:
1-Macrium prompts me to load some additional drives when i boot up with Rescue DVD, saying "USB controllers, ethernet drivers and some devices...". I caught the "USB controllers...". Why is it prompting me to download USB controller drivers as long as USB 2.0 drives can be recognized by default? Is it a prompt for my 3rd party Fresco USB 3.0 controller?
2-We know Macrium is used to clone/image fixed system drives. And based on my experiment, i'm not allowed to clone/image an external drive (USB drive) to another external USB drive...So we're limited with fixed drives to clone/image. Is it because of Free version? Or anything else?
3-As far as i see, Macrium has recognized my AHCI-configured SATA drive just fine, and the partitions of it, when i booted via Rescue DVD. So, is it all OK to start a full-image sequence without changing AHCI/IDE settings and leaving current AHCI-mode as is?
Hope someone enlightens me,
Thanks a lot!

I never load any drivers even if it tells me to, always worked fine
I only have the paid version though so I cannot comment about the 2nd question. I use Macrium Reflect Home v6 which allows me to clone to dissimilar hardware and clone a disk easily to another
I have 3 extra licenses if you're interested (unused) that I can sell you one for almost half the price @ 39.99 USD -
This function may be of interest> it can mount backup files as drive(s) (assigning letter) with a right click\dbl click (easily fetch some individual file\folder out of a complete disk image), see att. I use that quite often.Last edited: Mar 22, 2015
