Well I am getting my notebook back any minute actually and decided to take a second shot at vista. Previously tried Vista pre SP1 and was very dissapointed.
I have read the threads (many) and decided on Vista Ultimate 32bit as it it easier to get drivers (unsigned), as well as some software compatibilty and availibilty of 32 bit vs 64bit.
I have several questions though that have been almost answered in other threads but were not detailed enough for proper understanding.
1) Vista Ultimate, I have a english vista ultimate SP1 Cd here in Japan although I require Japanese support for specific software (cellphone connectivity). The drivers and software require a Japanese OS and was wondoring if I change the language in Vista ultimate if it would work.
2) I have a Japanese keyboard would I be able to install the japanese keyboard driver while using an english OSas I prefer the layout of the Japanese keyboard.
3) Where do I get a hold of AHCI drivers?
4) Do I change my settings in my bios first before installing the drivers and vista or after from SATA to AHCI?
5) Do I have to format before the install or can I just pop the disk in?
6) Changing the language on vista, can it be done constantly (ie just switch from japanese back to english and to french then back to japanese?)
If your going to flame just keep on browsing the forums and skip the thread. Posting irrelevent posts on a thread is against forum rules.

For Questions 1 & 2 : I think you can install Language User Packs for Vista
For Questions 3 & 4 : All Required Drivers are in-built into the Vista Disk and you need to change anything too
For Questions 5 : You Can do it either way ... but vista's partion manager is good
For Questions 6 : AFAIK its possible in Vista
Sorry I have given any wrong information mate -
Thanks

1) Not 100% sure, back then I know some Japanese software must require a Japanese OS, or least to work properly. Another thing to keep in mind is that, I know for Chinese for example, the MUI pack will only cover about 95% of all characters versus a full Chinese OS. I'm not sure if this will be the same for Japanese.
2) You should able to install the Japanese kb driver in English OS.
3) 4) Should be in the Vista disc already, unless specifically provided by the manufacturer.
5) Just pop the disc in, in one of the steps, you can change/format the partitions.
6) Yes you can switch back and worth as many times as you like, just log off and re-log in, the changed language will be appear. Even in XP you can do this. -
