I haven't been hanging around the compaq/HP/Voodoo forum because i thought my old compaq was ready to be put out to pasture. But then alienware decided to suck and i got a desktop instead, so my compaq presario v2000 has been brought back to life in stunning defiance of it's age. (functions like a dream, or it did....)

Recently, it has been having a very odd problem. on the desktop i have a bunch of AVI files that i watch while in bed sometimes. If i click on any of the avi files on the top or bottom of the screen, it selects only 1 file. but if i click in the middle, it selects a while bunch.

i am not holding the button down any longer as to drag and select. and this happens with the touchpad and mouse. Has anyone ever encountered this kind of problem, and is it a software issue that a fresh install of windows would fix? or could this be something more problematic.....
