Recently I was given a Toshiba A135-S2296 which had Windows Vista Home Basic installed. I hated it so I uninstalled it and installed Windows XP Pro SP2 instead. The thing is that if the computer hibernates or sleep it won't wake up, I mean there is no key nor button (believe me, I tried them all) that would allow me to continue working with it.

I read this article in Toshiba's website in which it says if you have Windows Vista Home Basic you cannot downgrade it to Windows XP.

So if anyone had the same problem or have any idea of what would fix it, your suggestion will be more than welcomed.

Unless Toshiba has started implementing special hardware that locks users into Vista the way Apple does, your problem may not have anything to do with your recent downgrade.

Also, you're saying that you cannot resume XP at all? Do you have it in hibernate right now?

I don't have the computer with me right now but I'm sure I can't. If I close it, if I hibernate, sleep or even left it ON without using it for a while I cannot resume it. I don't know what to do about, I know that with Vista it didn't happen.

    Thanks.
